There are exciting times ahead in Coventry! – the city that we started working in 30 years ago! And now, we at Open Theatre are re-committing to creating artistic and cultural offers for young people with learning disabilities across the city for the next 10 years. That all starts with exciting projects early in 2021, so we’re on the lookout for a producer and Coventry-based artists working in any art-form to work with us.
We are seeking an experienced producer to help deliver Uncover/Discover.
Uncover/Discover is an exciting multi-art-form, creative project for Coventry and
Warwickshire Special schools and colleges across September 2020 – April 2022 in partnership with Coventry City of Culture 2021. It is an ambitious, multi-faceted programme of creative work for young people with learning disabilities. Uncover/Discover focuses on revealing the
creativity rippling through Coventry.

We are also keen to hear from creative practitioners (emerging or established) who are interested in training in the non-verbal physical theatre practice that is at the core of our work in special schools in
Coventry and across the West Midlands.
If you are a Coventry-based artist and are interested in finding out more about future opportunities to work with us please email email@example.com with the subject ‘Coventry Artist – Expression of Interest’ and:
– Tell us a bit about you and your work
– Attach your CV
– Include links to, or attach documents showing, examples of your work
Whilst artists should always feel welcome to get in touch, we would encourage you to get in touch as soon as possible so we can start conversations about all the exciting opportunities.
Open Theatre recognises the long-term systemic barriers which have prevented black artists & cultural workers from thriving in the industry.
As part of our commitment under the More than a Moment initiative to combat these barriers, we are operating a Guaranteed Interview Scheme for any applicants from black* backgrounds who meet the Essential Criteria in the Personal Specification.
* We have adopted the Black Ticket Project‘s definition of ‘Black’: as of Black African, Caribbean, Afro-Latinx and African-American heritage, including those of mixed-Black heritage who identify as such (More Than A Moment).
